In hopes of getting some students in classrooms sooner, Appleton school district administrators are looking at what they’re calling a “Virtual Plus” model.
It would be in-between the current setup of all-online classes, and having a mix of in-person and virtual learning.
Asst. Superintendent Ben Vogel says at the secondary level, they would prioritize certain students in small groups, including English learners, at-risk students, and focusing on students needing social and emotional learning.
Co-curricular activities could also be allowed.
Many of the same considerations would be in place at the elementary level. Assistant Superintendent Nan Bunnow says they’d also want to prioritize the youngest students.
The local coronavirus case totals are still well above the district’s level for starting the “Virtual Plus” model.
