More than 100 healthcare professionals sign on to an open letter to area school districts asking them to reconsider their decision to make masks optional this fall. The letter was written to the Appleton and Neenah districts specifically and to other surrounding school boards. Doctor Beth Menzel–a family physician in Appleton–says research doesn’t support claims that masks are detrimental to a child’s mental heath. But she thinks isolation can impact children and that’s why it’s important to keep kids’ healthy and in school which masks may do.
