The Appleton Area School District recommends a revision of masking guidelines for the 2021 school year. School district officials now want to require indoor masking for all staff, visitors and students in school district buildings. On July 26, the Board of Education adopted optional masking for early childhood through 12th grade as part of the district’s Mitigation Protocols. The decision to adopt mandatory masking is prompted by the changing nature of the COVID-19 virus and the rapid spread of the Delta Variant. The proposed change will go before the Board of Education at its regular meeting Monday, August 23.
