The Dodge County District Attorney is declining to charge Horicon city officials with violations of the Open Meetings Act. The allegations were brought by members of the now disbanded City of Horicon Police and Fire Commission. The decision to disband the commission came as the city was looking to hire a new police chief. The first time abolishment of the PFC appeared on a City Council agenda was March 16, 2021. The notice for the March 16 meeting was posted on March 15. The proposal had not previously been discussed in an open meeting. District Attorney Kurt Klomberg, however, found there was insufficient proof of an open meetings law violation. He says no charges will be filed in the matter.
