FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A man charged with the deliberate killing of a motorcyclist in Fond du Lac County is found guilty of First-Degree Intentional Homicide-Hate Crime.
Daniel Navarro is convicted in the death of Phillip Thiessen of Fond du Lac in the first phase of his trial.
Navarro, who’s Hispanic, testified as the only defense witness. He told investigators on July 3, 2020, he intentionally swerved his truck into Thiessen’s motorcycle on Winnebago Drive because he believed all Harley-Davidson riders are “white racists.”
Phase 2 of the trial will address Navarro’s plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
