MADISON, WI — More Wisconsinites are now able to receive monkeypox vaccinations. That announcement came during an afternoon news conference by the Department of Health Services. Dr. Ryan Westergaard, DHS Chief Medical Officer and State Epidemiologist, says access to monkeypox vaccine has been made easier through vaccines that can be applied on a person’s skin rather than injected into it.
So far, 63 cases of monkeypox have been reported in Wisconsin. A few have been hospitalized for pain control. Dr. Westergaard also says there are multiple providers in Northeast Wisconsin alone.
It’s recommend you check with your local health department or health care provider to learn whether they offer the monkeypox vaccine.
