It is the heat…and the humidity!
I always hated the statement “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity”! Really? So, what if it was 76 degrees with a dew point of 65…would you feel as uncomfortable as the 92 we had Tuesday with a dew point of 70…that’s downright miserable!
I’m occasionally asked whether I would rather tolerate a stretch of 90 degree days or a frigid length of below zero frostiness. Give me the heat, any day. I think it’s partly due to aging. A 10 degree day is just more painful on a 60 year old body, whereas a 90 degree day at least gets some warmth in those achy muscles!
I can attest that heat and humidity can be a real danger. Heat stroke or exhaustion is no joke and can lead to serious health risks. Hydrate, wear light clothing, limit time in the direct sun and find some A/C as often as you can.
Oh, and don’t wait to drink water until you actually get thirsty…your body is already past the point of being dehydrated.
