(APPLETON, WI) — An equal rights rally in downtown Appleton will be issued a special event permit–even though organizers missed the deadline to apply for one.
The Appleton Area National Organization of Women chapter is holding a Rally for Equality in Houdini Plaza on August 26th–but didn’t apply for a permit the required 45-days out from the event.
NOW President Irene Strohbeen says they were unaware they needed one.
Alder Sheri Hartzheim says event organizers need to get used to applying for permits if they are going to use public property for planned events like this.
Earlier this year, the Appleton Common Council approved a similar late permit application for a No Kings Rally.
