The only two flyable B-29 planes from the World War II era are in Oshkosh for EAA AirVenture.
One of them, named “Doc,” is touring for the first time, after a 17-year restoration project.
Josh Wells is a spokesman for the plane’s owner, and he says it spent 45 years as a bombing target for the Navy. He says volunteers worked on it in Wichita, Kan.
“Doc” and the other B-29, “Fifi,” are scheduled to be in this afternoon’s airshow.
It’s the first time in over 50 years that two flyable B-29s are in the same place.
