A top Republican in the Senate says it’s just a matter of time before they hammer out the rest of the state budget.
Senate President Roger Roth is from Appleton. Governor Walker said yesterday that GOP lawmakers have a deal “in principal.” Roth says it would include a $100 annual fee for owners of electric vehicles. He says that’s because they don’t pay the gas tax.
Transportation funding has been the biggest sticking point in the budget impasse. Roth says the overall budget is great for education, property taxes, and making sure roads are maintained.
Roth says lawmakers should pass the budget and the Foxconn bill by the first few weeks of September.
