Josh talked with Col Charles McGee, one of the Tuskegee Airmen who helped to prove that racial bias in the military kept talented pilots out of the sky. Col McGee now travels to help teach the lessons of his experience to the next generation.
As part of that effort, the Commemorative Air Force Red Tail Squadron flies restored versions of the “red tail” P-51 Mustang the Tuskegee pilots flew in WWII. He understands how the wonder of flight can help to deliver an important lesson from the past.
Finally, when he discovered his passion for flight and the Tuskegee Airmen’s story, Florida boy Trevor Simoneau found his calling. He researched and assembled an award-winning exhibit sharing the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, and traveled to Oshkosh to share it, all before he earned his solo pilot license!
