One of the paper companies involved with the cleanup of PCBs from the Fox River reached a proposed settlement with the state and federal governments.
P.H. Glatfelter would pay $20 million for the work that’s already been done, plus $500,000 for natural resource damage.
The company would also have to pay for any future cleanup costs to the EPA and state. That would cover long-term monitoring and maintenance of the caps.
Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson says it’s good to see that the parties involved have come to at least some sort of initial resolution.
Before Federal Judge William Griesbach in Green Bay considers the proposed deal, the public will have 30 days to comment on it.
