Governor-elect Tony Evers will be sworn in today and a political science professor believes the Democrat will have a tough time finding a lot of common ground with the Legislature.
The GOP controls both houses. Professor Jim Simmons teaches at UW-Oshkosh. He says the state legislature has already signaled that they intend to resist many of the initiative Evers promised during the election. He says they already made it more difficult by limiting what the incoming governor can do and who he can appoint.
Simmons says transportation and education are two areas where Evers and Majority Republicans might be able to work things out. But when it comes to paying for road projects Simmons says some Republicans have been against anything that looks like a tax.
The inauguration is at 11:00 a.m. this morning and we’ll have live coverage on WHBY.
