A local leader is talking about how the U.S. Census helps northeast Wisconsin.
It’s not until next year but some committees are starting to prepare.
Brown County Planning Director Chuck Lamine says the Census is used to redraw political district lines and highlight demographic changes in communities. He says it’s also important to have accurate information to make a case for grant funding.
The federal government gives out about $675 billion around the country each year. The share for each state and community is based on Census data.
