A Canadian representative who deals with trade issues between the country and Wisconsin will be in the state next week.
Counsel General John Cruickshank will meet with the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. He’s hoping to put the new version of a free trade deal with the U.S. and Mexico behind him.
Cruickshank believes more people in the United States who use steel to make things are getting hurt. He says Canada buys more steel from the U.S. than the other way around. He says there’s over $10 billion a year of commerce between Wisconsin and Canada alone. He says Wisconsin does about $6 billion in sales a year through Canada.
He says dairy is about five percent of that overall $10 billion trade total.
Cruickshank was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
