It’s typical to see flooding in parts of northeast Wisconsin in the spring, but a meteorologist believes this year is unusual.
Jeff Last of the National Weather Service in Green Bay blames a late winter storm, and a lot of recent rain. He says typically, there are flooding concerns for three or four weeks. Right now, it’s already been six weeks, and there could be issues for another week or so.
Last says the Fox Valley and Green Bay areas are under a flood watch. He expects as much as a half-inch, or an inch of rain, over the next 24 hours. He believes that’s especially problematic for smaller creeks, or other bodies of water that go into larger rivers.
One of the areas that’s being hit hard by high water is Shiocton.
