Police are investigating a case of vandalism at the Fox Cities Champion Center construction site.
The more than $30 million indoor sports facility is taking shape in Grand Chute.
Police Officer Travis Waas says they’re still assessing the damage, but he calls it “pretty substantial.” He says officers went there around 5:30 a.m., after construction workers called police.
Police aren’t saying whether the building itself, or construction equipment, was vandalized.
Construction on the facility started last summer by the corner of Greenville Drive and McCarthy Road. The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau has planned to open it sometime this fall.
Eleven communities are paying for the project, using three percent of revenues from the hotel room tax.
