A student at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is receiving a national honor.
Daniel Diebold served 10 years in the Army including three deployments to the Middle East. He’s one of about 260 students around the country to become a Newman Civic Fellow. The organization focuses on leadership training and community involvement.
Diebold is an automotive student. NWTC’s Rachel Scheffen says Diebold’s teacher nominated him. She says he wants to work with other veterans to create a sense of comradery and help with mental health issues.
Diebold hopes to do that by opening a repair shop where veterans can bond over cars.
