The plans to put an electric barrier at the Menasha Lock might help find a solution at another one that’s been shut down for more than 30 years.
The Rapide Croche Lock is in the Wrightstown area. Jeremy Cords is the CEO of the Fox River Navigational System Authority. He says they can study the effectiveness at the Menasha Lock and use that information for the Rapide Croche Lock.
The DNR would have to approve the $3 million electric barrier at the Menasha Lock. It’s been closed since 2015 because of an invasive fish called the round goby.
The Rapide Croche Lock was shut down in 1988 to block sea lamprey.
