The new state budget is in place.
Governor Evers signed it late this morning, after making 78 vetoes.
He believes Majority Republicans in the Legislature didn’t do enough for the people of the state. He says he used his veto power to get the final budget closer to the one he initially proposed in February.
Evers used his veto pen to increase public school funding by $100 million, and reduce the amount of borrowing for road projects.
He’s also cutting state funding for the Veterans Memorial Lift Bridge in Kaukauna, and $5 million to start studying a replacement for the Green Bay prison.
