Winnebago and Outagamie counties will each get two more prosecutors.
Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett hopes that will help expand the county’s treatment and diversion programs. He believes it’s not just about having more prosecutions of people, but trying to find the best way to change the course that they’re on.
He says it’s part of a nationwide focus on reforming the criminal justice system.
Governor Evers stopped in Green Bay yesterday to announce how about 60 new positions will be divided around the state. Gossett has been calling for more prosecutors in Winnebago County for years.
