Appleton voters will elect a new mayor for the first time in 24 years, and there’s a lot of interest in the race.
About 200 people had to be turned away from a packed room at the Appleton library, for the first forum featuring the candidates. Seven of the eight people on the ballot took questions for about two hours Thursday night.
Moderator Jackie Klimaszewski of the League of Women Voters says it’s great to see so much interest.
The capacity of the room in the library is 270.
Mark Todd was the only candidate missing.
The primary is February 18th. The top two finishers will move on to the April election.
The league will post a video of the forum on the Appleton chapter’s website in two or three days.
