A record of nearly $6 million is going to programs to tackle the root causes of poverty in the region.
The Basic Needs Giving Partnership is donating to 220 nonprofits in Outagamie, Winnebago, and Brown counties.
Greg Vandenberg of U.S. Venture says they typically commit to innovative projects with three-year grants. He believes it takes time to make meaningful changes with the issues the groups are tackling.
The grants are going to programs focusing on areas like mental health, homelessness, and foster children.
Most of the money is coming from the U.S. Venture Open and the J.J. Keller Foundation.
