Governor Evers is signing a series of bills, including one that increases penalties for multiple-time drunk drivers.
People convicted of a fifth or sixth offense could now face a minimum prison sentence of 18 months. The current minimum penalty is six months in jail.
Another new law sets rules for releasing police body camera videos, under the state’s open records law.
Evers also vetoed a series of Republican crime bills. Prison officials would’ve had to recommend revoking parole for people charged with a crime. Another proposal would’ve expanded the crimes that could land children in a youth prison.
