While kids are home from school, Grand Chute firefighters are reaching out through Facebook.
Engineer Wade Thorson and Firefighter Kody Porter read two stories with Sparky the Fire Dog in a live video yesterday. Thorson says they also showed Sparky how to wash his hands, and gave him some other hygiene tips.
He says they enjoy teaching fire prevention to children, and they miss it, now that kids can’t visit the station.
The kids watching yesterday’s video were from all over the area, and other parts of the state.
The department plans to regularly put together live videos for kids.
