A former sports director at WBAY is home, after he was in a hospital with coronavirus.
Tim Hunt worked at the station from the mid-80’s through the early 90’s. He says his ordeal started about a month ago, when he had a cough. He says his condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
He was told at a hospital they wouldn’t test him for the virus, so he went home and quarantined himself from his teenage sons.
After a week, Hunt says his heart wouldn’t stop racing, so he called 911. He says a paramedic had a look of fear, because they were having trouble getting his heart rate to slow down.
Hunt spent four days in an isolation room at a hospital, before his fever came down. He hopes he’s now out of the woods.
