GRAND CHUTE, WI — A Grand Chute motel has its operator’s license revoked. The town board votes unanimously to revoke the license of the Rodeway Inn on Westhill Boulevard. Police chief Greg Peterson says there have been a number of issues at the motel.
“We’ve had a lot of drug issues. There have been a lot of disturbances,” Chief Peterson said. “Domestic violence calls. We’ve had a number of drug overdoses over there. Both fatal and non-fatal overdoses.”
Casie Goodson of nearby Kessler’s Diamonds says she has witnessed those kinds of incidents.
“I personally have observed sexual acts outside of our windows in broad daylight, ” Goodson told town supervisors. “Drug paraphernalia found both on our property as well as behind.”
The owner–Permeet Arora of Arora Hospitality–says he is working to make improvements.
“I am a part of the community, ” Arora said. “I pay $70,000 in property taxes to the Grand Chute. I have ten employees, including the GM. We don’t want to see this hotel shut down, either.”
Arora has 30 days to appeal the decision. Grand Chute Police say they responded to 240 calls for service at the Rodeway Inn between January 1st and October 15th of last year. The Rodeway Inn is where two men fatally overdosed back in August.
