Nelly and Scottie…looks like to succeed in the game of golf, you may need to add a “y” or “ie” to your name!
First to Nelly…that’s Nelly Korda, the number one player in women’s golf who just won her 5th tournament in a row, a major in Houston. She equals HOFers Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only ones to do that. Anyone who has played the great game of golf knows how hard that is, to tee it up against 75-140 players every week and beat them all!
Then there’s Scottie Scheffler, who just won the RBC Heritage for his fourth win in his last 5 starts. The one that got away was in Texas when he missed a 5 foot putt that would have given him a playoff chance to win that one too! What’s remarkable is that Scottie won the Masters, did all the media, flew home for a very late celebration, enjoyed one day at home and then caught a flight to Hilton Head with no expectations. And he won anyway! By 3 shots!
Quick stat that brings it all into focus: these two great golfers teed it up against 1,164 golfers in their last 5 tournaments, respectively. They beat all of them, except for one.
Now on the tee: Davey Edwards…..naw, not gonna happen.
