UPDATE: The suspects are identified as James Vanderleest and his father, David Vanderleest. The child is identified as Leo Escalante. Criminal charges are pending.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy and arrested two men in connection with that incident.
Police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Alpine Drive June 22 for a report of a child with serious injuries.
The 2-year-old boy was taken to a hospital and transferred to a medical care facility outside of the Green Bay area for treatment. The boy died two days later from his injuries under what police say occurred under suspicious circumstances.
On Friday, Green Bay police detectives were aided by law enforcement officers from Florence, Forest and Marinette counties in arresting the two suspects in Florence County. They’re identified only as a 21-year-old man and a 48-year-old man.
The incident remains under investigation.
