Dave Edwards and “It’s Just my Take”, 5-19-23
May is Mental Health Awareness month, and I’ve been featuring numerous experts on AM-Fox Valley these past few weeks. The issue of mental health is quickly becoming a major concern.
How often do we see after mass shootings that the culprit was dealing with some form of mental health issue? Gun access is certainly a component to the shootings, but mental health issues can exacerbate the situation.
The recent Surgeon General report on the growing problem of loneliness also contributes, along with this week’s claim that those of us dealing with depression is steadily increasing. Add to that job stress, coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, peer pressure, etc and you have a strong recipe for a challenging mental health outlook.
Seek assistance, don’t be afraid to talk. Reach out to a friend, make a call instead of just a text. And, call those experts that know how to help. It could save someone’s life.
