OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Oshkosh Common Council overturns a decision to approve a new contract with Flock to provide license plate reader cameras for the police department.
According to Chief Dean Smith, new information came in about the system that Flock did not provide at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The council voted 5-2 at that meeting to keep using the Flock cameras for one more year following extensive public comment.
Council member Jacob Amos was a “no” vote, citing concerns about the police department’s policies on accessing the video and saving the data………….
Flock issued a statement prior to the overturning of the new contract vote, saying that “statements made during (Tuesday) night’s meeting have been misinterpreted and weaponized by activists.”
Oshkosh police expect all of the cameras to be taken down by the start of summer.
