OSHKOSH, Wis. — Oshkosh Area School District students are doing better at reading.
According to end-of-year data, 52 percent of students in grades one through eight met or exceeded reading proficiency. That marks an increase of 155 percent from the previous scores.
Oshkosh Board of Education member Barbara Herzog was impressed that middle school students showed the greatest improvement……….
The score results will be used to improve support for staff and students and identify successful efforts to be implemented districtwide.
Meanwhile, Oshkosh students made a slight improvement in math skills. The iReady results show 46 percent of first-through-eighth graders met or exceeded math skill expectations. That’s a two-percent increase from last year.

Third graders were the highest achievers. According to the iReady data, that was due to changes in teaching modules.
