GREEN BAY, Wis. — A Green Bay man who killed his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor will spend the rest of his life in a mental institution.
James Dorr, Jr. is committed after being found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in Brown County Court on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and mistreatment of animals causing death.
Dorr stabbed his AA sponsor and the man’s dog to death in January of 2025. Doctors found him to be mentally incompetent at the time of the crime.
He will serve a three-year prison term on unrelated drug charges before his commitment will begin.
