A proposed deal for Foxconn to build a plant in southeast Wisconsin is heading back to the Assembly with some changes.
Majority Republicans in the Senate approved the $3 billion in incentives, on a 20-13 vote Tuesday.
Republican Senate President Roger Roth of Appleton says they wanted to include more protections for jobs. He says they’re connecting about $1.5 billion in incentives for building the plant, to new jobs. He says that way, Foxconn can’t get the money by having an automated facility with few workers.
The Assembly approved an earlier version of the bill, and members will have to take up the latest changes.
