APPLETON, Wis. — Charges are now filed against an Appleton man who held police at bay after firing two shots from the roof of St. Bernadette’s Parish last week.
James Cooper is charged with recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping, disorderly conduct and possession of a firearm.
Cooper had been staying at Iris Place, which is located in the church. He had been told to leave the building after spending three days there.
Police were called in after reports of a man who pointed a gun at a female staff member and then put the weapon to his own head. He then climbed on the roof of the church and fired two shots in the air.
Cooper eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
