GREEN BAY, Wis–Green Bay Police are investigating leads into an elder fraud scam. Between October 23rd and 31st, several older residents reported getting calls from a person claiming to be a grandchild in legal trouble.
That is followed by a call from a “lawyer” demanding cash to get the grandchild out of jail. Detectives want to talk to anyone that may have received such a call that week, or who may have transferred money to the scammers.
Police believe at least three people were involved in running that scam.
