APPLETON, Wis–The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department is having some fun with a scammer spoofing one of its members. Residents have reported getting a call from a “Sergeant Wall”, who demands payment to “take care of a warrant”. There is a Sergeant Wall in the Outagamie department, but he is not the one doing the calling.
In a Facebook post, the real Sergeant Wall is holding a sign with the correct pronunciation of “Outagamie” and notes that he does not have a southern accent and does not take payment in cryptocurrency or gift cards.
