KIMBERLY, Wis. — The Village of Kimberly is moving on from the Fox Valley Metro Police Department.
After meeting in closed session Monday evening, the Kimberly Village Board voted unanimously in favor of a motion to end participation in the Kimberly-Little Chute Intergovernmental Police Protective Services Agreement. That marks the end of a 30-year partnership between Kimberly and Little Chute.
Village staff will now begin negotiating with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office to provide police services to Kimberly. A study by the village determined that Kimberly could save just over $279,000 yearly by contracting with Outagamie County.
The board’s decision comes despite strong public support to stay with Fox Valley Metro.
